Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Paratransit Service is a curb-to-curb public transportation service for people with disabilities who are unable to use DART buses or trains. Paratransit is a shared-ride service that serves Dallas and 13 surrounding cities. DART transports more than 720,000 passengers annually, covering 700 square miles, using 209 lift-equipped buses.

In today’s paratransit environment characterized by constrained funding, rising costs, and increasing ridership, delivering a quality paratransit service is an ongoing challenge. DART aims to deliver top quality service and maintain strong relations with its ethnically diverse client population. Veolia Transportation has managed the paratransit service for DART since 2001. At that time, DART consolidated paratransit services, choosing us as their sole provider. Since that time Veolia’s performance and track record have more than demonstrated the soundness of that decision.

One example of where Veolia Transportation placed major focus is on building a rigorous maintenance program. Our strong maintenance team has provided an unprecedented extension of serviceable life of vehicles, supporting DART by deferring the need for capital investments.

We also continually focus on customer care training. By providing continuing customer sensitivity training, we assure passengers receive the care they need in a safe and efficient manner.

Donnie Thompson, Assistant Vice-Presdient of Paratransit Operations for DART, said the following: “Veolia and DART have developed a strong, cohesive relationship. Through teamwork and commitment, we’ve been able to offer a consistent, top-quality service to our ridership.”

Finally, Veolia Transportation engages the disabled community and its leadership by becoming involved in community organizations and gathering input and feedback about service needs and concerns.
