11:35 to 11:55 am — Economic Recovery Update and Overview, DOT Programs, Susan Schruth, FTA

  1. Urban Formulas, Non-Urban Formulas, Fixed Guideway Modernization Funds, New Starts/Small Starts, Tribal Transit. Overview of latest information, reporting requirements, etc.
  2. DOT - Federal Highway Administration Office of Surface Transportation - Discretionary Multimodal Program $1.5 billion - This is a competitive grant program for state and local governments to use on longer-range surface transportation capital projects (including highway, bridge, transit, rail, and port projects) with significant impact on the Nation, metro area or region with grant awards from $20-$300 million up to 100% federal share. $200 million is for the TIFIA program.   3. DOT - Transit Investments for Greenhouse Gas and Energy Reduction (TIGGER) $100 million. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 ( ARRA) provided $100 million to be distributed as discretionary grants to public transit agencies for capital investments that will assist in reducing the energy consumption or greenhouse gas emissions of public transportation systems.
