Custom Transportation Solutions

For most
corporations or institutions, passenger transportation is not a part of their
core business. Yet many must depend on transportation to offer access to their
visitors, employees or students. Whether it’s a shuttle service connecting an
office complex with remote parking, a scheduled operation that connects several
workplaces for one company, or an apartment building that chooses to offer
residents access to nearby shopping or a transit line, our clients rely on us
to provide a safe and efficient bespoke solution to their transportation needs.
University & School Transportation
Veolia Transportation carries students between housing,
classrooms, recreational facilities and retail establishments for universities
or schools such as Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, or North Carolina St.
University in Raleigh. These operations can include internships, jobs and
management training specifically aimed at students so that they not only get a
ride but may even launch a new career in transportation logistics, management,
marketing or operations. We understand that students represent a different
market, resulting in our exploring the ability to put satellite radio on buses
as well as announcements of relevance to the university community.
Between the Bus and the Taxi
Local
officials are finding themselves facing growing demand for public transit
services in areas that cannot justify traditional local bus services,
particularly off-peak. Veolia Transportation’s on-demand products are available
to fill this void, at lower costs. Based on a European model, our “EasyBus”
service runs only when the demand is there, getting people to their destination
within 30 minutes of the reservation being made. Vehicles are
electronically-dispatched with trip requests taken through call centers, or
e-mail. For example, in Northern Virginia, EasyBuses travel through the
neighborhoods surrounding a commuter rail station where the parking lots fill
up early. The service allows people to leave their car at home while they are
transported right to the station.

Downtown Circulators
We provide essential transport services to help connect neighborhoods within
major cities and Veolia Transportation’s experience, creativity and resources
allow us to rapidly design a service to fit the locale, acquire vehicles and
cut the ribbon in no more than 90 days. For example, when businesses in the
bustling Washington DC neighborhood of Georgetown needed better access for
employees and visitors through their local business partnership, they selected
Veolia Transportation to provide it. In Georgetown, we supply buses every 10
minutes on two routes from early in the morning until late at night, offering
access to the most congested areas from nearby subway stations. The service is
easily duplicated in other areas and provides a means to boost the local
economy by making areas more accessible and attractive to visitors.
